Security forces detain protesters in Jerash on August 19

08/19/2020 (Jordan) - Security forces in the city of Jerash reportedly detained dozens of protesters on Wednesday evening, August 19. The protesters had gathered to demonstrate against the arrest of several leaders of the Teacher's Syndicate union as well as the government's decision to suspend the union's operations.
Further protests over the issue are likely in the near term.
