06/21/2018 (Argentina) - Argentina's leading national trade union federation, The General Confederation of Labour (CGT), has announced plans to stage a 24-hour general strike on Monday, 25 June. Workers from various sectors, both public and private, are expected to take part in the industrial action in response to the government's economic policy reform and proposed spending cuts to balance the budget. Significant disruption to public services and commerce is anticipated. No large-scale mobilisation has been planned by the CGT, though spontaneous demonstrations may occur in urban centres.

During the industrial action, members in major urban centres in Argentina should anticipate disruption to public services, transportation, and commerce. Members are advised to revise journey plans accordingly in order to minimise the impact on business continuity. Travellers in Argentina are advised to avoid any political protests or demonstrations due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence, opportunistic crime and heavy-handed police response.
