SOURCE:Corporate Risk International

A day after the death of a 14-year-old girl of A/H1N1 flu in Pune, the Maharashtra state government invoked the Epidemic Diseases Act in Pune and Satara districts to empower health authorities to prevent the spread of the disease. The legislation has been in effect in Delhi for over a month. Authorities are advising residents not to panic and that this is a precautionary measure. Hospitals have been instructed to set up isolation wards and health staff will receive specialized training under the act.
