Reports of looting at youth camp in Bwari's Kubwa area October 27

10/27/2020 (Nigeria) - Local sources are reporting ongoing looting at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Camp in Bwari's Kubwa area (Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria) as of 10:00 (local time) on Tuesday, October 27. Food supplies and valuables are reported to have been taken, resulting in shots fired, reportedly from security forces in an attempt to disperse the crowd. Reporting states that the looters have outnumbered security forces and are chasing them from the location. It is not immediately clear whether the unrest is related to ongoing protests organized through the #EndSARS social media campaign.
Further unrest in Bwari is possible over the near term. A heightened security presence and associated transport and business disruptions are to be expected.

Those in Bwari are advised to monitor the situation, adjust travel itineraries and avoid unnecessary overland movement in the immediate term, avoid the vicinity of any unrest, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
