Public sector workers to hold demonstration in Montevideo on October 28

10/27/2020 (Uruguay) - Teachers and municipal workers have announced their intention to stage a march in Montevideo on Wednesday, October 28, as part of a 48-hour strike action over various budget and public investment issues. Demonstrators are scheduled to gather at the Universidad de la Republica (UDELAR) at around 10:00 (local time) before marching to the Legislative Palace. A sit-in protest is also expected to be held at the Damaso Antonio Larranaga high school in the La Blanqueada area of the city on Wednesday.
Although Wednesday's demonstrations are likely to be peaceful, localized disruptions are likely in areas around protest sites.

Those in Montevideo should monitor developments and anticipate localized disruptions in the vicinity of the protests.
