10/26/2020 (Libya) - Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Monday, October 26, that it has lifted its restrictions on the El-Feel oilfield (Murzuq district), ending the closure of all oilfields and ports following an eight-month-long blockade by forces loyal to the eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA) leader Khalifa Haftar. The restrictions were lifted following a deal between Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and Ahmed Matieeq (a member of the Presidential Council).
Clashes between LNA and Government of National Accord (GNA)-aligned forces remain a continued possibility in the near term despite a ceasefire agreement signed on Friday, October 23, and therefore associated disruptions to facilities and infrastructure are to be expected also.
The security environment in Libya remains complex. Although travel is possible in some areas (with appropriate security protocols in place), other areas should be considered strictly off-limits. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
