Bandits abduct several residents after attack in Zamfara state October 25

10/26/2020 (Nigeria) - Gunmen attacked residents in the Maru Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara state on Sunday, October 25, and abducted five people. According to local residents, one of those abducted was the head of Lingyado district. The incident occurred at approximately 08:00 (local time) on Sunday morning. Joint police and military units stationed at Bindin responded to the attack and have launched search operations in the area to rescue those abducted.
Security operations should therefore be expected in the area in the near term, and in Zamfara as the state government has deployed additional security personnel to volatile areas of the state. Similar attacks are also possible in the region over the near term.

Those in Zamfara state are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for criminal activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
