10/25/2020 (Italy) - Police clashed with protesters in Rome who had gathered during the early hours of Sunday, October 25, to denounce the latest set of restrictions introduced due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Some 200 people gathered at Piazza del Popolo and began to throw firecrackers and smoke bombs at police after they were ordered to disperse after midnight in order to comply with the curfew. A number of protesters were arrested after police charged the demonstrators, forcing them back towards Piazzale Flaminio. The incident comes following clashes which occurred in Naples during the evening of Friday, October 23, between law enforcement and those opposing new COVID-19 restrictions.
Further protesters regarding the issue are possible in Rome in the near term.

Those in Rome are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
