10/25/2020 (Angola) - Protesters clashed with police in the capital Luanda on Saturday, October 24, amid demonstrations denouncing the high cost of living. Reports indicate that at least 50 people were arrested in the clashes, some of whom were dispersed and even beaten by security forces. Protesters reportedly set fire to tires to denounce the forceful intervention by police.
Further protesters regarding the issue are possible in Luanda in the near term. A heightened security presence and associated disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of protest sites.

Those in Luanda are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
