10/24/2020 (Afghanistan) - The Afghan National Directorate of Security announced on Saturday, October 24, that it killed Abu Muhsin al-Masri in a security operation in the Andar district of Ghazni province. Al-Masri is believed to have been al-Qaeda's second-in-command. He was also on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorists list after being charged in the United States with having provided material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization, as well as conspiring to kill US nationals.
Militant attacks are likely throughout Afghanistan in the medium term.

Those in Ghazni province are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant for possible militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
