Suspected militants kidnap construction firm employees in Nahr-e-Shahi district (Balkh province) October 23

10/24/2020 (Afghanistan) - Suspected Taliban militants kidnapped seven employees of a private construction firm in Nahr-e-Shahi district (Balkh province) on Friday, October 23. Reports indicate that the employees were on duty in the Langar Khan area of the district when they were kidnapped. Several items of machinery and a vehicle belonging to the firm were also stolen amid the kidnapping. The Taliban militant group did not immediately comment on the incident.
Security operations are expected in the area following the incident.
Those in Balkh province are advised to monitor developments in their own particular area of operations through a range of multi-source intelligence advisories and should heed all instructions issued by local authorities or their home governments.
