10/23/2020 (Turkey) - On Friday, October 23, the US Embassy in Turkey issued an advisory warning of a possible terrorist threat to US and foreign nationals in Istanbul, as well as to the US Consulate General and other locations throughout Turkey. The statement said that the embassy had received credible reports of a threat of attack or kidnapping, although the origins of the threat remain unclear. Additionally, US officials announced that it would temporarily suspend all American citizen and visa services at its Turkish missions over the threat.
A heightened security presence is likely at US and western-linked sites over the near term.

Those in Turkey are advised to monitor the situation, exercise a heightened sense of awareness at all times, and report any suspicious items or activity to authorities.
