Anti-corruption protest scheduled in Nicosia for October 24

10/23/2020 (Cyprus) - An anti-corruption protest is scheduled to take place in Nicosia on Saturday, October 24, over a recently reported scandal involving the sale of Cypriot citizenship by high-ranking officials to convicted criminals through an investment program. The demonstration will take place outside the Presidential Palace, although timings are yet to be announced. The event follows several associated demonstrations in recent days, with further protests likely in the near term.
Transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the protest, as well as a heightened security presence.

Those in Nicosia are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and large public gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
