10/23/2020 (Benin) - Multiple women's marches are due to take place in urban centers throughout Benin on Monday, October 26 primarily around market areas. Marches have been announced in Cotonou at the following market areas; Dantokpa, Marche Saint-Michel, Marche de Vedoko, Marche Missebo, Marche Degakon, Marche d'Akassato, and the Friendship Stadium. In Porto Novo, a rally is reportedly planned in Marche Ouando. The marches are being organized by numerous women's rights groups and will campaign for better assistance available to those who are victims of gender-based violence (GBV), including the capacity of national and local service organizations to provide emergency services, as well as empower local women leaders to protect school girls from GBV.

Those in-county are advised to monitor developments, avoid all demonstrations, anticipate transportation disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
