10/22/2020 (Taiwan) - Civil rights advocates have called for a rally in in Taipei on Sunday, October 25, to call for the release of 12 Hong Kong residents who were detained while attempting to flee to Taiwan. Protesters will reportedly gather around 14:00 (local time) at Zhongxiao Fuxing Station before marching to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around the protest.
Those in Taipei are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and anticipate a heightened security presence and localized business and transportation disruptions around protest sites.
