10/22/2020 (Bangladesh) - Nationwide protests are scheduled to take place throughout urban centers of Bangladesh on Friday, October 23. The demonstrations have been organized by the Islamist Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) group and are being held over various issues, including a rise in sexual assault cases in the country. JeI party offices and mosques are expected to be protest flashpoints.
The demonstrations are expected to be well-attended. A heightened security presence and associated transport and business disruptions are to be expected near any protest sites. Scuffles may occur between protesters and the police.

Those in Bangladesh are advised to monitor the situation, adjust travel itineraries and avoid unnecessary overland movement in the immediate term, avoid the vicinity of any demonstrations, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
