Opposition party to protest in Chennai on October 24

10/22/2020 (India) - The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party has called for its supporters to hold a protest in Chennai on Saturday, October 24. The demonstration is being held to demand that state Governor Banwarilal Purohit reserves places in medical university courses for students from government schools that pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Participants will reportedly gather from 10:00 (local time) outside the Raj Bhavan.
The demonstration will likely be accompanied by a heightened security presence and localized disruptions to transport.

Those in Chennai are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate disruptions to transport, and obey all instructions issued by local authorities.
