10/21/2020 (Pakistan) - At least five people were killed and 20 others injured on the morning of Wednesday, October 21, in a large explosion at a multi-storey residential building in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area of Karachi. The building, near Maskan Chowrangi, was significantly damaged in the blast, with debris falling into the street and damaging several vehicles parked nearby. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation, but authorities have suggested that it may have been the result of a gas or cooking cylinder explosion.
Localized disruptions are likely to continue throughout Wednesday in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area as emergency response operations continue. Roads around the site are likely to be closed for several days as the damaged building is demolished.

Those in Karachi are advised to monitor developments, avoid the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area in the near term due to localized disruptions, and heed any instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
