10/21/2020 (Afghanistan) - At least 15 people were reportedly killed and multiple others injured in a stampede on Tuesday, October 20, as thousands of Afghans gathered near the Pakistan consulate in Jalalabad. A crowd of around 3000 had reportedly gathered to collect tokens needed to apply for a visa to travel to Pakistan, although it is currently unclear what initiated the stampede. Around 11 people were also reported to have been injured in the incident.
There is a realistic possibility of protests linked to the incident in Jalalabad and near the Pakistan consulate in the near term.

Those in Jalalabad are advised to avoid large gatherings, follow government directives, and monitor local media outlets for further information regarding the incident.
