10/21/2020 (Sudan) - Security forces have reportedly fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters in Khartoum on Wednesday, October 21. Demonstrations were being held across the capital over deteriorating socio-economic conditions in the country calls for political reforms, as well as to commemorate the Revolution of October 1964. Security forces had reportedly blocked off all bridges connecting Khartoum, Bahari, and Omdurman across the Blue and White Nile to prevent protesters from reaching the downtown area. There have been no reports of any injuries during the clashes thus far.
A heightened security presence and associated disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any protest site in the near term. Further associated protests are likely in the coming weeks.

Those in Khartoum are advised to monitor developments, avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
