10/12/2020 (Lebanon) - An anti-government protest is scheduled to take place in Jounieh on Wednesday, October 14, near the local branch of the Central Bank of Lebanon at 18:00 (local time). Security forces are likely to forcibly disperse the protesters, with public and private sector unions also calling for further demonstrations nationwide. The protests are being called over socio-economic grievances that have been exacerbated by coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-related restrictions.
A heightened security presence and localized travel disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of the event.
Those in Jounieh and in urban centers nationwide are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
