10/07/2020 (Argentina) - Demonstration are scheduled to take place in Buenos Aires and La Plata on Thursday, October 8. The protests are being held to denounce the government's plans to evict residents from an informal settlement in Guernica. Participants of the protest in Buenos Aires are set to gather at the Congress building at 16:00 (local time) before marching to Plaza de Mayo. In La Plata, participants are scheduled to gather at approximately 11:00 at the train station at the intersection of Avenidas 1 and 44, before marching to the Government House near Plaza San Martin. The demonstrations are expected to be well attended.
A heightened security presence and localized travel disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of the demonstrations.
Individuals in Buenos Aires and La Plata are advised to closely monitor the situation, avoid all large public gatherings, prepare for disruptions to transportation and business in areas affected by the demonstration, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
