10/06/2020 (Lebanon) - Demonstrators are set to gather in Beirut on Wednesday morning, October 7, to denounce the military trial of anti-government activist Khaldoun Jaber. Several activist organizations have called for a solidarity demonstration at 09:00 (local time) outside the Military Tribunal Court. The defendant has been charged with allegedly defaming the military as well as participating in violent disturbances during anti-government demonstrations.
A heightened security presence and associated disruptions should be anticipated at all protests.
Those in Beirut are advised to avoid any protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, allow ample travel time, and obey instructions issued by local authorities.
