King Abdullah accepts resignation of Prime Minister October 3

10/04/2020 (Jordan) - According to state media reports on Saturday, October 3, King Abdullah accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz and requested that the PM remains as a caretaker premier until a successor is nominated to oversee the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for November 10. The resignation comes after the parliament was dissolved by King Abdullah on Sunday, September 27, giving the government one week to resign under constitutional rules.
Political rallies are possible in the coming days and in the lead up to the parliamentary elections.
Individuals in Jordan are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations, prepare for transportation disruptions around protest sites, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
