09/30/2020 (Tunisia) - A protest is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 30 in Tunis over socio-economic conditions in the Tataouine governorate. Participants of the demonstration are set to gather at approximately 15:00 (local time) at the Ministry of Industry to demand support from the government over workers at the El-Kamour oil pumping station, which transports more than 50 percent of the country's oil.
Previous associated protests in May 2017 and July 2020 resulted in fatal clashes and localized unrest in El-Kamour.
A heightened security presence and associated disruptions to transportation and business are likely during the course of the protest.

Those in Tunis are advised to monitor developments, avoid protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
