09/24/2020 (Lebanon) - Demonstrators are set to gather in Beirut on Thursday morning, September 24, to denounce the military trial of three anti-government activists. Several activist organisations have called for a solidarity demonstration at 09:00 (local time) at Ramlet el-Bayda. The defendants have been charged with allegedly defaming the military as well as participating in violent disturbances during anti-government demonstrations.
A heightened security presence and associated disruptions should be anticipated at all protests.
Those in Beirut are advised to avoid any protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, allow ample travel time, and obey instructions issued by local authorities.
