09/17/2020 (Argentina) - Workers' groups and labor organizations, including the Workers' Left Front (Frente de Izquierda y de los Trabajadores-Unidad, FIT-U) and the Socialist Workers' Party (Partido de los Trabajadores Socialista, PTS), have called for nationwide demonstrations on Thursday, September 17. The groups are protesting over a range of labor-related grievances. Protests are likely in major squares and near government buildings in urban centers across Argentina, with the main events will take place in Buenos Aires. These are expected to be well attended and will follow the below schedule (local time):
15:30 - March from the intersection of Avenida Belgrano and Avenida Jujuy to the Obelisco
16:30 - Rally at the Obelisco
17:00 - Main rally to be held at Plaza de Mayo
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions to transport are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations. Security forces are likely to be monitoring the events for breaches of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions and scuffles between demonstrators and law enforcement cannot be ruled out.

Those in Buenos Aires are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
