09/14/2020 (Pakistan) - Demonstrators will gather outside the Karachi Press Club in Karachi from 17:00 (local time) to protest against sexual crimes committed in the country. The protest has been sparked by an incident of sexual assault near Lahore on Friday night, September 11, the latest in a series of incidents involving violence against women.
A heightened security presence and localized transport disruption are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration. Whilst the protest is expected to remain peaceful, clashes between demonstrators and security forces cannot be ruled out. Further protests over the issue are likely across Pakistan in the near term.
Context
Protests have been held in several cities nationwide since the incident near Lahore on Friday, which came days after a young girl was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and killed in Karachi. Protests were held over the weekend inIslamabad, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, and Karachi.

Those in Pakistan are advised to closely monitor developments, avoid all protests and large public gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
