Protesters gather at Tripoli's Souk Althoulata roundabout September 14

09/14/2020 (Libya) - Local sources have reported on Monday, September 14, a protest and road closure at Souk Althoulata roundabout which is preventing travel into the Gorji and Hay Al Andalusareas. Small arms fire has been reported in the area.
Reportedly, the protest is in relation to the killing of Anis al-Tellili on the evening of Sunday, September 13. Al-Tellili was killed in west Gorji by an armed group. Unconfirmed sources report that the attack was carried out by Ghneiwa militia members.
A heightened security presence is likely in the vicinity of all protests. Related protests are likely in the near and medium-term.

Individuals in Tripoli and surrounding areas are advised to monitor developments to the situation, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
