Sandstorm disrupts travel in Ankara province on September 12

09/13/2020 (Turkey) - A sandstorm engulfed Polatli and Haymana districts of Ankara province on Saturday, September 12, prompting the Turkish General Directorate of Meteorology to issue a warning regarding reducing visibility. Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin said that six people were injured during the storm, which began at approximately 15:00 local time. Since late last month, Ankara has been going through a dry period and heatwave.
The Directorate also issued a warning of strong winds and sandstorms for the neighboring province, K¿r¿kkale, in central Turkey.
