09/12/2020 (Cyprus) - A protest has been scheduled to take place in Nicosia on Saturday, September 12, over restrictions implemented due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The demonstration has been organized to denounce COVID-19 related restrictions and is being held at Eleftheria Square, where participants are set to gather from approximately 18:00 (local time).
Police have announced that they will be monitoring the event and ensuring that social distancing measures are adhered to.
Associated business and transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the protest, as well as a heightened security presence.
Those in Nicosia are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and large public gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
