09/12/2020 (Chile) - Protests were reported in Santiago on Friday, September 11, with supporters commemorating the 47th anniversary of the death of former president Salvador Allende. Riot police were called out to disperse protesters in Santiago's General Cemetery, the burial site of Allende, and Plaza Baquedano, a well-known protest area of the capital. In Rancagua, protesters gathered at Hero's Plaza, the site of a speech by Allende announcing the nationalization of the copper industry in the country in 1971.
Associated business and transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of all protests, as well as a heightened security presence.

Those in Chile are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and large public gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
