Nationwide anti-government protests scheduled for September 14

09/11/2020 (India) - The Communist Party of India (CPI) is scheduled to hold nationwide demonstrations on Monday, September 14. The group has organized the events in protest of the state of the economy under the current government. Although no specific timings or locations have been announced, it is likely that they will take place in the vicinity of local government buildings, such as CPI offices, district collectorates, and state government offices, as well as public squares.
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions to transport should be anticipated in the vicinity of any demonstration. Further protests cannot be ruled out in the immediate term.
Those in the affected areas are to avoid all demonstrations and gathering in order to mitigate the risk of exposure to unruly crowd behavior, incidental violence, and opportunistic crime. Monitor local media sources for further updates on demonstrations and any associated overland disruption.
