Anti-police protest reported in Lahore on September 11

09/11/2020 (Pakistan) - Local media outlets report of an anti-police protest in Lahore on Friday, September 11, over controversial comments made by a local police chief over an ongoing gang-rape case. Reportedly, the chief made comments which were understood to blame the victim for driving at night without a male companion. The protests were primarily held in the vicinity of the Punjab Assembly Building and passed off largely without incident.
Associated business and transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the protest, as well as a heightened security presence.

Those in Lahore are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the area, anticipate transportation disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
