09/11/2020 (Israel) - An anti-government protest is scheduled to take place in Jerusalem on Saturday, September 12, over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial and the government's handling of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic in the country. Police have announced that several streets within the city will be closed from 15:00 (local time) on September 12 due to the protests, including King George Street to Paris Square, as well as Keren Hayesod, Azza, and Ben Maimon streets.
Previous related demonstrations have remained peaceful. However, associated business and transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the protest, as well as a heightened security presence.
Context
Multiple protests have been held throughout Israel in recent months over the government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Anger over the issue has been compounded by pre-existing anti-Netanyahu sentiment, with the Prime Minister facing three criminal cases over alleged corruption.

Those in Jerusalem are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and large public gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
