09/09/2020 (Thailand) - Hundreds of taxi drivers gathered to protest outside Government House in Bangkok on Tuesday, September 8, to denounce proposed legislation, among other issues. Reports indicate that the demonstration ended at around 11:00 (local time) when a government representative met with those gathered and received a petition letter. Among the demands from the protesters include scrapping a draft bill that would reportedly allow private vehicles to be used as a ride-hailing service akin to taxis.
Further demonstrations over the issue are possible in Bangkok over the near term and a heightened security presence and localized disruptions are possible in the vicinity of any demonstrations.

Those in Bangkok are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
