IED blast targets restaurant in Mogadishu's Boondhere district September 9

09/09/2020 (Somalia) - An improvised explosive device (IED), potentially carried by a suicide bomber, detonated at a restaurant Boondhere district, Mogadishu, on Wednesday, September 9. The establishment, called the Dalsan restaurant, is situated in the vicinity of the Villa Somalia where the Presidential Palace and Prime Minister's Office are situated. At least three people have been killed and seven others injured by the explosion. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast at this time.
Localized disruptions are likely in the area in the immediate term. Further attacks cannot be ruled out.

Individuals in Mogadishu are advised to remain vigilant for militant activity and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
