Protests against COVID-19 restrictions planned in Trieste on September 11

09/08/2020 (Italy) - Protests against restrictions introduced due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic are planned to take place in Trieste (Friuli Venezia Giulia region) on Friday, September 11. Protesters plan to gather at Piazza Unita d'Italia from 19:00 (local time). Police will deploy to ensure that demonstrations stay peaceful and if protests breach current restrictions gatherings may be dispersed. However, the demonstrations are expected to remain largely peaceful.
A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the vicinity of any protest site, along with disruptions to overland travel.

Those in Trieste are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid all protests or demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
