09/08/2020 (Congo (Kinshasa)) - Unidentified gunmen killed three people in Goma's Ndoshoarea (North Kivu province) during the evening of Monday, September 7. The attack reportedly occurred on the intersection of Kasavubu and Kalondji avenues when attackers on motorcycles fired on people in a shop. The assailants then killed a police officer responding to the incident. Authorities later stated that a suspect was arrested following the incident; however, investigations are ongoing.
Further attacks and police operations are likely in the area in the near term.

Due to the escalating violence within parts of North Kivu province, all non-essential travel to the region should be reconsidered. Members in the eastern provinces of the DRC are advised to monitor local media sources and liaise with in-country contacts to remain apprised of security-related developments in their particular area of operations.
