09/08/2020 (Nigeria) - The President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) workers' union, Ayuba Wabba, has reportedly called off a planned demonstration in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) on Tuesday, September 8, after meeting with the state government. The union previously called for supporters and members to protest on Tuesday to denounce salary arrears and grievances. Gatherings elsewhere in Rivers State are still possible in the coming hours.
Localized disruptions and heightened security are likely in the vicinity of all demonstrations. Clashes between security forces and participants of protests are also possible.

Those in Rivers State are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transport disruptions and possible business disruptions, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions by local authorities.
