08/31/2020 (Argentina) - Environmental demonstrations are set to take place in Buenos Aires and other urban centers on Sunday, August 31, to denounce an agreement between the government and China to increase pork production in Argentina. In the capital Buenos Aires, demonstrators will reportedly gather at the intersection of Avenida 9 de Julioand Avenida de Mayo at 17:00 (local time) before marching towards Plaza de Mayo at 18:00. A similar protest at Plaza de Mayo on Tuesday, August 25 resulted in several demonstrators being arrested following clashes with police.
Related solidarity rallies are likely to occur on the day in other cities across the country. A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the vicinity of any protest site, along with disruptions to overland travel.

Those in Argentina are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid all protests or demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
