Tornado in Inner Mongolia causes damage and casualties on August 9

08/11/2020 (China) - A tornado reportedly injured 33 people and caused damage at a tourist site in northern Inner Mongolia on Sunday, August 9. State officials announced that the tornado had struck Swan Lake, near Baotou, Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner, damaging over 100 yurts and injuring tourists and workers at the site. Three individuals are believed to be seriously injured and are receiving treatment at local hospitals.
Travel disruptions are to be expected as emergency services carry out recovery efforts in the area.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, abide by directives issued by local authorities, and prepare for transportation disruptions.
