08/11/2020 (Cameroon) - Activists from the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC) party are expected to hold a protest in Douala on Friday, August 14, to demand the release of political prisoners. Protesters will reportedly gather at Tradex Borne 10 roundabout and Ndokoti neighborhood at 11:00 (local time) before marching to the Dakar roundabout.
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the demonstration. Clashes between participants and security forces cannot be ruled out, as previous demonstrations by the opposition groups have been aggressively dispersed by police.
Those in Douala are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests or large gatherings due to the risk of associated violence, and adhere to instructions issued by the local authorities.
