Protest march scheduled in Bukavu for August 14

08/11/2020 (Congo (Kinshasa)) - The New Dynamics of Civil Society (NDSCI) group has called for a demonstration in Bukavu (South Kivu province) on Friday, August 14, to protest against the increasing cost of living, economic instability, and fluctuations in the exchange rate. Participants plan to gather at the Muzihirwa Square in Nyawera before marching to the governor's office. The exact timing and route of the march are yet to be announced.
Transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstration.
Those in Bukavu are advised to monitor developments, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
