08/10/2020 (Pakistan) - At least five people were killed on Monday, August 10, in a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Balochistan province town of Chaman, on the border with Afghanistan. At least 20 others were reported to have been wounded in the explosion on the city's Mall Road, which damaged a number of nearby properties. Local officials stated that the IED was remotely detonated, having been concealed in a motorcycle at the roadside, and is believed to have targeted an Anti-Narcotics Force vehicle.
Security operations are likely in Chaman and the surrounding area in the near term in response to the bombing.
Those in Balochistan are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
