08/09/2020 (Iraq) - According to emerging reports, an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted a US logistical convoy on the International Road in the city of Nasiriyah (Dhi Qar governorate) on Sunday, August 9. It is not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack or if any casualties were incurred.
Similar attacks targeting US facilities and interests are possible in Iraq over the near term.
Those in the area are advised to monitor developments, avoid the affected area, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
