Emerging reports of clashes along border with Gaza Strip August 9

08/09/2020 (Palestinian Territories/ West Bank and Gaza Strip) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly conducted an artillery strike into the Gaza Strip on the morning of Sunday, August 9, after shots were fired at construction workers in the Kissufim area close to the border with the territory. The retaliatory strike reportedly struck fields in Gaza's Deir al-Balah area, across the border from Kissufim, but there were no immediate reports of any casualties from the incident.
Further security operations are possible in the area in the near term.

Those in the Gaza Strip and areas of Israel bordering the territory are advised to monitor developments and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the Gaza Strip.
