Flooding causes fatalities on the Island of Evia August 9

08/09/2020 (Greece) - Greek authorities announced on Sunday, August 9, that at least three people have died on the island of Evia due to flash flooding caused by torrential rain and thunderstorms over the weekend.
The three people were found dead in their flooded home in the village of Politika.
Continued disruption to transportation and utilities is to be expected in the near term.
Those in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
