Multiple casualties after shooting in Washington DC on August 9

08/09/2020 (United States) - Armed men killed one person and injured at least 20 others in an attack on a party in Washington DC early on Sunday, August 9. Police officials stated that at least three individuals opened fire at the gathering, which took place at 33rd Street and Dubois Place, in the southeast of the city. One off-duty police officer was injured and is reportedly in a critical condition. While the gunmen have not been apprehended, police at the scene have stated that it seems to be an isolated incident.
A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the incident as police investigations continue.

Individuals in Washington DC are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the area, and anticipate disruptions to overland travel in the immediate term as investigations continue.
