08/08/2020 (Czech Republic) - Police have arrested a man on the suspicion that he started a fire in an apartment building that killed 11 people in Novy Bohumin (Moravian-Silesian region) on Saturday, August 8. The blaze broke out at a 13-storey building on Nerudova Street and reports suggest that although the fire has been extinguished, investigations into its cause are ongoing.
An emergency response presence and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in the area.
Those in the area are advised to monitor developments and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
